I wish there was more to say on this subject. The originals are all approximately the same size, 95mm x 90mm, but the camera is unknown to me. Mackail says that Barrie equipped himself with a new camera in August 1899, and the photos from this holiday appear to have been taken on the same camera as The Boy Castaways – indeed, it would seem Barrie was still using the same camera when he took the photo of Michael dressed as Peter Pan in 1906. There is, however, one clue – a photo of Sylvia lying on the grass, with a box camera case beside her, presumably Barrie’s. If anyone can help, please email me - andrew@jmbarrie.co.uk - and I’ll be happy to send higher resolution scans of some sample originals ... |
