Film about Davies boys
« on: March 13, 2020, 10:00:35 PM »
Why hasn’t a film been made that focuses on the Davies boys and their relationship with Barrie. Such an interesting story. I know there have been films such as Finding Neverland but one that covers the period from Sylvia’s death to Michael’s death would be intriguing.

Well, there's Andrew Birkin's brilliant The Lost Boys TV drama which puts to shame Finding Neverland, which was a ridiculous travesty. No-one could outdo Ian Holm as JMB. If you haven't seen it yet, do!

Hello Brutus. Yes, I have seen it and it is excellent. I thought that something that focused more on the boys would be interesting.

I would love something new on the Davies boys. Personally I would prefer a limited series over a film as their lives would require hours to tell, I should think.

Have you given any thought as to which actors you’d like to play the boys? I could imagine Taron Egerton in the style of his Testament of Youth character to play George and Tom Holland of Spiderman fame to play Michael. They have some passing resemblance to each respective brother and are decent actors both; here are some comparisons:

Taron Egerton: https://i.redd.it/yw8wbf4fj8g31.jpg
George: https://jmbarrie.co.uk/photos/george-llewelyn-davies-at-cambridge-september-1913-1

Tom Holland: https://pmcvariety.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/tom-holland-e1476632311212.jpg?w=680&h=415&crop=1
Michael: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/372391462941548446/

But anyway these are only general musings, and if ever a film or a series were to be made I wouldn't mind other actors - especially with greater resemblance to the Llewelyn Davieses.

I see flashes of Barrie, maybe as an older man, in actor Anton Lesser.

To play Michael or George Llewelyn Davies, I can see David Oakes in that role, especially as a young man at Oxford.
