In The Child's Map of Kensington Gardens it says (top right corner) "The shade of Pilkington is over all the gardens." Does anyone know what this means?

"Pilkington" was based on the real-life schoolmaster Wilkinson, nick-named Milky, who ran a day-school in Orme Square opposite Kenisngton Gardens to which George, Michael Peter and Nico all went. When boys played truant, Milky was wont to go in search of them in Ken Gardens, cane in hand, hence his shadow is all over the gardens. In the original draft on Peter Pan, Captain Hook comes back in the last scene as a schoolmaster, searching the Gardens for Peter to drag him off to school (see Anon: A Play on this site)
