Title: Is Neverland in Nottingham?
Post by: Heathy on October 24, 2008, 10:25:31 AM
Hello

I'm writing an article for the BBC Nottingham website about the rumour that JM Barrie's Neverland was conceived during his time in Nottingham.

There's a suggestion that the land was based on a beautiful park called The Arboretum, near to where Barrie lived.

I'm not expecting a definitive answer as to whether this was the case but maybe you know more as to the origins of Neverland?

Could you give me a line or two about whether it's possible about Nottingham's connections?

Hope you can help, Neil

Athough I suppose it's true to say that everything in Barrie's life prior to 1903 contributed to the writing of Peter Pan, I have never heard Nottingham cited as being in anyway connected with it. But as I'm sure you know, Barrie lived in Nottingham for 2 years while working on the Journal, so it is not impossible....
