I recently obtained a First American Edition of Cynthia Asquith's The Flying Carpet (Scribner's 1925)which includes Barrie's short story Neil and Tintinnabulum. It is, of course, really about Michael at various ages. The book has wonderful color plates and b & w illustrations. I highly recommend it as only 12 copies of the original story were printed and they are almost impossible to find.

Are any of the illustrations specifically for N & T?? In Barrie's original manuscript, Neil is called Max.

Andrew: The color plates are related to other stories in the collection. There are three black & white (pen & ink?) illustrations within the body of "Nei and Tintinnabulum" but they are not credited to an artist. I think Cynthia had this reprinted from the proof of Barrie's original 12 copy edition since Cynthia's was published the same year (1925) by Scribner's.
