A new edition of Bruce K Hanson's Chronicles of Peter Pan (first published in 1993) is coming out in July, published by McFarland. Entirely revised and updated, the book features new and rare photos, posters, programs and costume designs. An appendix lists virtually every actor who has ever performed in a London, Broadway or Hollywood production of Peter Pan from 1904 to the present. Fantastic new cover too. What more could a Peter Pan fan ask for?

You can also read about the genesis and progress of the book in the author's blog, just started:

Why does it cost $45?
Is it written with the blood of Mary Martin?
Looks like I'll be checking this one out of the library.

Why does it cost $45?
Books are priced (in part) based on the size of their expected audience. If the publisher thinks there could be a million people out there who'd be interested in buying it, they might price it @$4.50, but if that maximum potential market is merely in the thousands, they might need to price it @$45 to make enough money to pay the author.
