Title: just starting
Post by: moonlinermusic on January 18, 2012, 10:08:15 AM
Greetings All,

I'm a relatively new member... actually I was a member years ago, but I think there was a shake up recently that required users to signup once again.... I think.
Anyway, I am obviously a huge fan of Mr. Barrie and am delighted this site is here. It's such a wealth of information!
In the coming year my partner and I will be making a trip to the UK in hopes of visiting as many important Barrie/Pan locations as we can find. I'll wait to get this post authorized and once that clears then i'll post a new topic in the Barrie section of the forum listing the sites I'm aware of (and have visited some of them) and then ask for suggestions.

Cheers,

Keith

Hi Keith
Welcome back to this forum. Great to hear you and your wife are planning a trip to the UK, with a  particular interest in JMB. I'm sure your list is already comprehensive, but you may like to have a look at the Peter Pan Gallery on Flickr in which I posted images from JMB's London and Scotland: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24671749@N07/collections/72157623501583109/

As I posted a while back on this forum, you can also visit the Adelphi by appointment. Well worth a visit!

If you would like to visit Great Ormond Street Hospital, its little Museum and the various memorials to JMB and Peter Pan, feel free to email me to arrange a date (preferably during the week, as the museum is closed at week-ends).

Once you post the list you have, I'm sure there will be lots more suggestions from other members. I can also give you contact details for many of the places.

Looking forward to hearing more of your visit!
Christine

Thanks for the warm welcome Christine!

I recently browsed the 'JMB's london' pictures... it's a great way to get excited about our trip!

I still don't seem to be able to post anywhere else on the site... perhaps I'm just being too eager. I'll keep waiting :-)

In Andrew's beautiful BBC show, The Lost Boys, it shows a tree that Barrie used to hid little fairy treasures and notes in. Is the tree used in the film the same one JMB actually used? Is the specific tree actually known and findable? (is that a word?)

Thanks!

Keith

Hmmm... my ability to view my profile seems to come and go. I'm sure it's something simple... what have I done? :-P
