Peter Pan / Syfy channel "Neverland" Miniseries

Just copied an article I read onto my blog the other day...no idea what I think of this idea....give it a read and tell me what your opinions are? I don't know if any of you outside North America get Syfy but there are a lot of articles out there about this project....

Peter Pan / Peter Pan quote?

A friend posted this quote on my profile today...I don't remember this particular one but it's been attributed to Peter Pan wherever I look. I don't REMEMBER it being in the book or play but i could easily be wrong I havn't gone back to check....do any of you know where this quote came from and if it's the book or play where it's found?

Peter Pan / The acorn

I was wondering something...I know in the original it says Peter gives Wendy a button off of his clothes...in the '03 movie it was an acorn......I've read online that the acorn has actually been known to have been worn by women traditionally as some sign or hoping for eternal youth? I think I read this was or is in england...can anyone confirm this? I find the choice of acorn in that case to be kind of interesting. Glad my husband gave me an acorn necklace like the '03 movie haha;)

Peter Pan / Romance in Peter Pan

First off I want to start by saying I've always felt Peter was a bit of a confused boy...I've always thought he had feelings for Wendy but never quite knew what it was because of his age and so always associated girls with mothers...that being said.....I enjoyed what the '03 movie did (though they should have included more motherly scenes as well). My question is: Is anyone here fond of this train of thought? Meaning...I know Barrie calls children gay and innocent and "heartless" but at the same time you just know Peter is NOT completely heartless or the abandonment by his mother wouldn't be an issue for him I wouldn't think. It's part of that biggest pretend.

The reason I bring this up is because I've noticed in Barrie's fairy notes he seemed to have ideas for "the boy" and "the girl" to be able to be together forever and even marry....in Little White Bird...he's written Peter and Maimie (Wendy's forerunner) as being very sweet together and him even asking if she'd marry him. Obviously people can say he's a baby in that and really doesn't know what that means but at the same time..how many babies talk? lol I just kind of feel like there is a constant idea of innocent childhood sweetheart kind of love in Barrie's notes and stories...though Peter has been written far more oblivious in the final draft of Pan I don't necessarily think that means the feelings are not there. 

I guess this question has gone through my head a bit because me and my husband have nicknamed each other Peter and Wendy because...even though we didn't know each other as children (unfortunately) we feel like we've brought that kind of sweetness to each other. This is why I gave him a picture of Peter and Wendy sitting outside the house in the tree tops watching faeries last christmas....we're very fond of what is elaborated on in the '03 movie (Not sure why people decide to call it sexual tension..I've seen 5 year olds smile at each other in such ways etc So even if they'd made them younger like they should have been I wouldn't have seen a problem. That being said humans are sexual beings and most had crushes in early childhood just as well as in their teens.) and I'm kind of wondering if anyone else got these ideas out of Barrie's notes as well?? I guess you could say I'm kind of open to either elaborations or alternative views of the story at least when it can be derived from Barrie's notes. Thoughts?

Peter Pan / Trying to make Wendy's costume-HELP!

I am currently trying to make this costume from the original production of Peter Pan- http://www.jmbarrie.co.uk/allscans/fullsize/1905-12-19-PX385.jpg

I remembered the color being kind of cranberry/burgundy in "Finding Neverland" but other than that the costume in the movie seemed a little off to this picture. Is the overcoat near that color in reality? And what about the dress underneath? It looks like it would be more of a brown or something but in Finding Neverland it was a lighter green...in these pictures however it looks to be a darker color. I'm also wondering what the strips of fabric are along the lining of the jacket (where the jacket would zip up)...what the round object on the chest is and is that holly all over the hat? I'm really wanting to make this costume but I have a lot of questions obviously and no idea who to ask other than on here lol

I tried to e-mail Andrew about this last night and the message came back with a postmaster reply...but my husbands account which use to say "Peter Pan" now says "johnbard88" in my inbox and someone else complained in the bugs & errors section about the same kind of thing...I don't know what's going on but looks like we can't even e-mail Andrew...if anyone has contact with him by phone you might wanna call and find out if something is going on...I PM'd him on here too but havn't had a reply now and it's been days.

JMBarrie / Had a couple dreams about Barrie

Just for the heck of it I thought I'd share a couple dreams I had related to Barrie...has anyone else had him show up in their dreams at any point?

The first dream I had he was walking down steps with a woman (I guess it was Mary i can't remember her clearly) and he gave me his coat (I was sitting on the steps).

The other dream I had I was at Arthur's funeral...it probably wasn't historically accurate in any form...and the room i think was empty really...it was a white room with chairs...at the front was a closed casket...Barrie was sitting by himself off to the side of the front row...I was also in the front...no one else was sitting there...I saw Sylvia putting some kind of reddish orange flowers on top of the casket....they weren't roses I dunno what they were....and she was crying...and she came over to me and I hugged her....it really affected me when I woke up.

Anyone else have Barrie-themed dreams?

Peter Pan / For a Peter Pan movie...

I am interested in opinions on this especially Andrew's. For a Peter Pan movie to not be a let down or as Andrew says "dismal" what do you all think are musts for it to contain? I really liked the 2003 movie but do feel it lacked a lot and wish Peter had a brit accent. I did like the development of Peter & Wendy together but think they should have been a little bit younger. I wanted to see more of the mothering aspect. I wanted to see the Pillow Fighting in the Home Under the Ground. Thoughts?

Me and Peter Pan (I mean from the forums here) are wanting to get handfasted (married) someday and would like to marry as Peter and Wendy
kinda as a homage to the little white bird version and some of what we read in Barrie's notes about "the girl" being able to go back to be with the boy and stuff because of her strawberry mark..not sure how many of you have read this stuff but we figured it isn't that far off for two childlike people to want to marry as Peter Pan and Wendy...I was originally thinking of wearing the white night gown but this outfit in the above picture looks lovely! We're really really wanting to do this....does anyone have an idea of what color this outfit was? How to get a duplicate made perhaps? We really want a magical themed wedding..this wont be happening for almost a year i'd imagine but we're really wanting to do this. And I just love this outfit. Is it burgandy like in Finding Neverland or was it a different color?

I guess the same goes for Peter's original outfit as well ...we'd love to dress like the originals. And I think I mentioned in passing once before my sweetie thinks I resemble Hilda (the actress in the picture) at least in a couple of her Wendy photos. Any help would be greatly appreciated! We really want to make a special event out of it all.

We've already exchanged kisses but we are going to re-exchange them possibly when we get handfasted (married) and end it off with a thimble (kiss) lol. What do you think? Anyhow....any help? :)

Peter Pan / Seeing the original play?

I have been wanting to see the original play...acted as it was in 1904....like what's in my script book from samuel french.....on a video or something.....no one seems to put off the original play anymore..it's always the (pardon me but...) annoying Mary Martin version...not that I don't find any fun in that version but it's nothing compared to the original script...I really want to see the ORIGINAL play ..not musical..of Peter Pan...does anyone have a clue how to go about this? Where can I find this?

JMBarrie / Mrs. Barrie

I'm not sure if this has been asked before and I can't remember if I've ever heard the answer either but...did Mrs. Barrie go on to have children later on? I just recently read that they apparently did TRY to conceive but it didn't happen...so I guess I was wondering...was Barrie shooting blanks or was Mary barren? Does anyone know if she went on to have children of her own later on? I know her and Gilbert never lasted.

As many of you know over the past few days there has been a rather rude tone to these forums...I have been given permission by Andrew to address this issue myself with the info he has found.

Firstly I would like to state why this is being posted. Over the past few days not only myself but Andrew himself and I'm sure there are others on here who have found MLD and Taylor's attitude just a little bit offensive to say the least. Andrew has discovered that these two share the same IP address. We felt it fitting that this be revealed as there has been trouble caused primarily since Taylor posted in the Michael Jackson thread...from then on...he claimed to have heard of Peter Pan being mentioned before the publication of "Little White Bird"...when Andrew wanted to know where he was met with rudeness and lack of sources being cited.

This being said Taylor also seems to have a fascination with Michael Llewelyn Davies...

Moving on...a few days after the defensive debate in the Michael Jackson thread a new member signs up: MLD (Michael Llewelyn Davies?)...who conveniently seems to have a problem with me (one of the main debaters in the Michael Jackson thread) and has an attitude toward Andrew as well...in fact to the point of calling him an "ass" publicly on this board. MLD seems to show a lack of quoting his sources as well and when asked to he gets defensive...like Taylor.

There has been a continued air of disrespect for the people of this forum and the owner of this forum and we thought it suiting that this information be published for you to draw your own conclusions.

From the information we know above and the IP address I think it has become apparent they are one and the same...if you are in the Geraldo thread you will notice at one point Taylor responds no more than 3 minutes after MLD's insult to me. They have the same IP address. Had MLD/Taylor been smart he probably would have restarted his modem before posting under another name and then restarted again before going back to the other ;)

That being said..they have exhibited the exact same personality not only to me but to Andrew and I'm sure this is becoming more apparent to the people on this board who have been following this mess.

MLD...you must learn to follow your own advice. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. You have been extremely rude on this board and you were most certainly projecting how you really were inside when you insulted me and called me childish. This behavior is low and it's uncalled for.

I think it is only fitting that MLD/Taylor owes this board and Andrew a major apology.
