Hi Tanya,

I am researching my family ancestry and I understand that the may be a connection with J M Barrie through my paternal grandfather.  I would be most interested in viewing the family tree for J M Barrie.  My grandfather was born in Towie (Kildrummy) where many of the Barrie family lived and some ran the Kildrummy Inn.  Are you able to tell me if there is any connection with the author J M Barrie with the Barrie's who lived in Kildrummy.  I am told that my grandfather was a cousin of J M Barrie and wish to try and verify this.  I too have traced my grandfather through the ScottishPeople's website.  My grandfather was James McIntosh Barrie born in 1884.

Hoping to hear from you.

Hi,

I am told that I am related to J M Barrie through my paternal grandfather.  I understand that he may have been a distant cousin or a great great uncle but I have never been able to trace the link as yet.  My grandfather's name was James McIntosh Barrie and he was married to Helen Brown.  His date of birth was 28th December 1884 in Towie which is in the Kildrummy area (there were many Barrie's in that region and they were Inn Keeper's at the Kildrummy Inn.  My father John Brown Barrie was one of eight children and was born in Glasgow.  I understand that my grandfather was a shipbuilder on the Clyde but later in life left for Canada and lived in Sarnia, Ontario with my grandmother Helen, and that is where my father was brought up.   I am living in Kingston, Ontario at present although I was brought up in the UK and lived there until 2006.  I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who could help me trace the link or fill in any missing gaps as I am trying to research the geneology of my family tree.  I have many cousins living here in Canada and also brothers and sisters in the UK.
