I looked in Andrew Birkin’s book, “J.M. Barrie and the Lost Boys”, but couldn’t find any information about what he studied.
But on Wikipedia, I found this:

“…he would attend a university, but would study literature. Barrie enrolled at the University of Edinburgh where he wrote drama reviews for the Edinburgh Evening Courant. He graduated and obtained an M.A. on 21 April 1882.”

According to Denis Mackail's biography (Chapter 6), Barrie took 7 subjects: Greek, Latin, Moral Philosophy or Logic, Metaphysics, Mathematics, Rhetoric and English Literature.
