I know he's really ageless...but what age did Barrie picture him at physically...I once heard it was twelve...or was it younger?

Peter's "Age"

I read in The Peter Pan Chronicles that one Pan actress, Nina Boucicault I think, once put the question of Peter's age to Barrie, and that he replied that he was one week old. I think this was old Peter was when he flew out of his nursery, but obviously not the age at which he stopped growing. I'd imagine he's meant to be 5-8 in Peter Pan.

I would guess that the "one week" answer would be referring to Peter's age in "Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens," which I believe was the first mention of him. In that story he's still just an infant, whereas with "Peter Pan" he's a bit more grown up and, I would agree, closer to 6 or 7, as you said :)
