Location of the graves of Peter, Jack and Nico
« on: May 16, 2009, 03:02:14 PM »
Are Peter, Jack and Nico buried with the rest of the Llewelyn Davies family in Hampstead or elsewhere with their wives?

I will check with Laura (Nico's daughter)... but you could also check Nico's letters to Mary Hodgson in the database for Peter and Jack...

If you stand in front of the Llewelyn Davies' grave in the graveyard, Michael's grave is the 2nd tombstone to the left and is clearly marked. Jack's name is listed on the family grave so one assumes he's also buried there. I don't know where Nico is buried but perhaps Andrew will find out from Laura?

I remember Michael's grave to be clearly marked too.

If I remember well, Nico was cremated and his ashes scattered in his beloved Kent. I don't know if his name has been added to the family grave as a memorial but by now but he isn't technically buried there.

Kisses,

Alice

Nico's daughter Laura reminds me that Nico was indeed cremated - I should have remembered, I was at his funeral! She's also pretty certain that Peter and Jack were also cremated.

Was Michael also cremated?

I would guess from the fact that Michael was buried in his own grave rather than mentioned on the family one, he wasn't cremated. Also, Andrew mentions in his book that he was 'buried' in the Hampstead graveyard. It is however just a guess...

Dear Nicholas,

Also remember that not everyone on these boards has the opportunity to check out the grave.  Many of us live in the U.S. or Australia or New Zealand or Canada or any number of places.  Can't just nip around to Hampstead to have a peek!

Many thanks for that, Nicholas!  And yes indeed, if you can email me a scan, I will gratefully add it to the database - speaking if you search for "grave", quite a number of photos come up of the Hampstead cemetery among others, taken by me in September 2001...
