Unsure newbie

Hi everyone.  OK, so I'm very new to this sort of thing.  I'm hoping to get some help out there.  This seems to be the only area that I am able to post on.  Can anyone please tell me how to post in the "normal" forums?  I have been talking with my grandmother (90) & it's been common knowledge through the family for many years that we are related to Sir James Matthew Barrie.  I have been researching the family tree but have come to a bit of a halt when it comes to that side of the family.  It was either one of my Great-Grandfather's or one of my Great- Grand Uncles who was a cousin of James Matthew Barrie.  His name was Alexander & since there are a few Alexander Barrie's in my tree my best bet is to go with his & James's Grandfather, Alexander (1786-1866) who was married to Marjory Mitchell (1786-1862).  Alexander & Marjory had James father, David & also Alexander's father, who was named either James (I have no birth-date, but he did marry Jean Bryson) or George (born 1794, married Catherine Richardson).  Any information would be very helpful please!  Thank you.

In answer to Neric who's researching his family history - have you also tried contacting the Kirriemuir Heritage Trust (http://www.kirriemuirheritage.org.uk/)? They have access to archive material and would know of any relatives of Barrie still living in Kirriemuir or nearby and could put you in touch.

I do know there are descendants of Alexander Barrie, JM's elder brother, who live in or near Dumfries and if you email your enquiry to peterpan@gosh.org, I'll be happy to forward it on to them.
